Eberhard Großer , also Walter Großer (born February 3, 1922 ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper who was active in 1951/52 for SV Vorwärts Leipzig in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR soccer .

Athletic career

One of the founding teams of the second-rate GDR league in the 1950/51 season was the company sports community (BSG) Fewa Chemnitz . In the squad was the 28-year-old goalkeeper Eberhard Großer, who was used in nine of eighteen point games over the course of the season. After he had played a GDR league game for Chemnitz at the beginning of the 1951/52 season, he moved as a substitute goalkeeper behind Walter Vogelsang to the GDR upper division Sportvereinigung Vorwärts Leipzig . Großer stayed there only for one season, in which he played 16 point games, and then returned to his previous team in Chemnitz, which now appeared as BSG Chemie. In the meantime, Erich Haake had become a regular goalkeeper there, so that Großer had to be content with the deputy role. He was only used six times in point games. When BSG Chemie was promoted to the GDR league in 1953/54, Großer was only involved with one mission. He then left BSG Chemie and moved to the newly promoted East German league BSG Motor West Karl-Marx-Stadt . There he was able to prevail as a regular goalkeeper and played 22 of the 26 point games. At the end of the season, BSG Motor had to relegate. Großer was now 32 years old and never returned to higher-class football.
