Eberhard Haussmann

Eberhard Haußmann (* 1958 ; † 2006 ) was a German ethnologist .

Life

Haussmann studied ethnology, prehistory and prehistory at the University of Tübingen , with Thomas Schweizer , Matthias Laubscher and Friedrich Valjavec . Haußmann received his doctorate in 1994 under Thomas Hauschild on his field research (1989) with the Mbirao on the island of Guadalcanal , Solomon Islands .

Intellectually he was mainly influenced by Hans Peter Duerr and Werner Müller , but his scientific work is in the tradition of cognitive anthropology and was particularly influenced by Brent Berlin . His main interest was ethnobotanical and ethnozoological questions. Haussmann was a distant cousin of the ethnologist Dieter Haller , whom he influenced.

In 1995 he entered the service of his hometown Ebersbach an der Fils and supported the museum director in setting up the 'Alte Post' city museum. In 1997 Haußmann took over the position of museum director and city archivist, which he held until his death. There he was primarily interested in the 20th century and the Nazi era. His most important exhibition honored the resistance fighter and pastor of the Confessing Church , Hermann Diem , who worked in Ebersbach .
