Eberhard Köllner (born September 29, 1939 in Staßfurt ) is a former officer in the air force / air defense of the National People's Army . Köllner was trained as a research cosmonaut of the GDR , but did not take part in any mission .

Life

Köllner was a pilot in the air force of the National People's Army , most recently with the rank of colonel , trained in the officers' college of the air force / air defense Franz Mehring . He also studied from 1966 to 1970 at the Military Academy of the Air Force "JA Gagarin" in Monino (Soviet Union). From 1975 until the beginning of the cosmonaut training he was the successor of Wolfgang Thonke commander of the fighter wing 1 in Cottbus. In this position he was replaced in 1976 by Rainer Strasbourg.

Köllner was trained from November 25, 1976 together with Sigmund Jähn in the Interkosmos -1 group for the space flight of Soyuz 31 , which took place in 1978. Together with Wiktor Gorbatko he formed the substitute team for the duo Bykowski / Jähn.

When the NVA was dissolved in 1990, he refused to be taken over by the Bundeswehr and said goodbye. After studying business administration, he worked in the private sector until his retirement in 2002. Köllner is married and has two children.
