Eberhard Stock

Eberhard Stock (born June 17, 1933 in Bernburg (Saale) ) is a German specialist in German and spoken language .

Life

After graduating from high school, Stock studied German and speech at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg from 1952 to 1956 . Since 1956 he has been working at the Institute for Speech Science and Phonetics in Halle. He received his doctorate in 1962 as Dr. phil. and completed his habilitation in 1970. In 1973 he was appointed professor of speech science. From 1967 to 1976 and from 1981 to 1993 he was head of the Speech Science Institute in Halle. His main research interests are phonetics , phonology , intonation and orthoepy as well as German as a foreign language . He retired in 1998.
