Eberhard Taubert (born October 20, 1936 - August 23, 2019 ) was a football player in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of GDR football . There he played from 1962 to 1966 for SC Karl-Marx-Stadt . He played a junior international game.

Athletic career

Taubert played from 1954 to 1957 in the reserve team of the army sports club Vorwärts Berlin , at that time the football focus of the GDR Army Sports Association . 1957 Taubert became champion with the reserve team. In 1958 he moved to SC Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt, which had previously been relegated to the second-rate first GDR league . With the exception of the time between the 11th and 19th matchday, Taubert was regularly used as a winger in the league team, so that he came to 15 point game inserts in his first Karl-Marx-Städter season. His scoring with two goals was just as modest as that of the entire team, which scored the worst goal difference of all 14 league teams with 33:52 and had to relegate from the first class to the third-class 2nd GDR league within a year .

Although only a second division player, Taubert was appointed to the youth national team of the GDR in 1958. On May 4, 1958, he was used in the youth international game Hungary - GDR (2-0) as a left winger.

Despite further intermittent dropouts, Taubert was able to play his way into the regular formation of SC Motor in the third division season in 1959 and was one of the goal-scoring players with more than ten championship goals. He was instrumental in the immediate return of his team to the I. GDR League. Until the end of 1961 he was an attacker in the SC Motor's second division seasons until he was completely out of action in the third third of the 39 round season 1961/62 (return to the summer-spring rhythm). During this season, Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt made it to the GDR league, in which Taubert was involved with 26 missions and six goals. In his first league season Taubert played mainly as a half-left striker, played 22 of the 26 point games and scored four goals. In the following two league seasons Taubert was only a regular player in the first half of the season, in both spring 1964 and 1965 he played only a few point games. 1965/66 was his last season in the Karl-Marx-Städter league team. It was only used on the 6th and 22nd matchday. His last game 1. FC Magdeburg - SC Karl-Marx-Stadt (2: 1) was the 48th league appearance within four seasons, and he scored five goals. He had also played 63 games in the first GDR league with 13 goals. In the 1966/67 season Taubert was still part of the top division of SC Karl-Marx-Stadt, but was no longer used in the first team. For the 1967/68 season he moved to the company sports community (BSG) Motor Germania Karl-Marx-Stadt , where he finally ended his career as a football player in the third-class district league .
