Ebersberg was a place near Wiedersberg in the Saxon Vogtland , which was destroyed in the course of the border security of the GDR.

history

Ebersberg was on a hill - on the rear Haagberg - east of Wiedersberg. The village was first mentioned in a document in 1306 and belonged to the Sachsgrün manor in 1577 and to the Troschenreuth manor in 1764 . In terms of church history, Ebersberg, as a parish parish, was already in a conflicting area of the Vogtland border region. The place had about 50 inhabitants in the 1950s and was incorporated into Wiedersberg in 1959. Although Ebersberg, unlike Troschenreuth, was about two kilometers away from the border, it was demolished in 1978, perhaps due to its elevated location with good visibility. The residents had emigrated from 1961, many had fled to West Germany, and the place was depopulated in the mid-1970s.

Ebersberg today

The desert is now in a forest. Some connecting roads have been preserved as side roads. Individual trees apparently originate from the time when the place existed. Flat remains of the wall can be seen, including the striking border of the former extinguishing water pond . As part of the “Hiking Trail to Places of Fate”, the former village received information boards on site in 2015 and 2017; the trail begins at the Wiedersberg castle ruins and leads u. a. to Troschenreuth, Hasenreuth and the border triangle .
