The Wiedersberg castle is the ruin of a spur castle at 490  m above sea level. NN high spur of the Haagberg above the district of Wiedersberg of the municipality of Triebel / Vogtl. in the Vogtlandkreis in Saxony .

history

Castle Wiedersberg was built around 1200 as a fortress to protect from Plauen to Hof leading national route . The first documentary evidence dates from 1267 with the naming of a “Reimboto de Gegenberch”. The castle is considered the ancestral home of the barons Wiedersperger von Wiedersperg . In Troschenreuth the castle had an outwork . In 1357, "Gegberg castrum" became the property of the Wettins . The castle was expanded after 1300 and fell into disrepair from 1500. In the 16th century, a mansion in the Renaissance style was built in the valley directly in the local area . Today the front of which are from the castle ramparts above restored gate tower , some vaulted cellar and the enclosing walls preserved. The double neck ditch carved into the rock and the gate drive of the gate tower, which swings around 90 degrees in the tower, are remarkable .
