Ebow , also Ebow X , bourgeois Ebru Düzgün (born February 8, 1990 in Munich ) is a German rapper of Kurdish origin who currently lives in Vienna .

Life

Ebow's grandparents came to Germany as guest workers , her mother, who had attended a grammar school in Turkey, did not follow them until she was 17 years old. Like her parents, Ebow is Alevi . Although her family is of Kurdish origin, only Turkish was spoken at home . She studied architecture at the Munich University of Applied Sciences and lived with her mother and grandmother in Munich's Westend. She has been completing her master's degree at the Vienna University of Technology since 2015 .

She first rapped in Munich's Bahnhofsviertel, in laundromats, supermarkets and the tram before appearing on stages and taking part in festivals such as the on3 Festival of Bayerischer Rundfunk in 2011 , the Sound of Munich Now Festival in 2012 or Schamrock in 2014 –Festival of women poets.

In 2010 she wrote and sang the theme song I have Wanderlust for the documentary Töchter des Aufbruch by Munich director Uli Bez , in which migrant women tell their lives in Germany, including Ebow and her mother. The film was shown in the cinema and shown in the CinéMayence at the Institut Français, at the Greek Film Week and as part of the women's film festival Bimovie 2012 in Munich.

With the self-produced half-hour video mixtape Habibi's Liebe und Kriege (2012), Ebow created a style influenced by oriental sounds, mixed with electro, which she describes as "alternative hip-hop ". For the first time, she packaged social reality in aggressive texts that range from gender roles in the Turkish community and false patriotism to German arms exports. According to Taz, her song Waffenhymne can be read as a response to MIA's Paper Planes . The music magazine Startrampe des BR introduced Ebow to the new bands of season 9 and produced their music video Oriental Dollar . In it she describes "the feeling that creeps over her when she watches the 'veiled women' from the Emirates in Munich shopping". Your album titled Ebow appeared on 22 November 2013 in the indie label Disko B .

In 2014 she released the single Paramide with the filmmaker and musician Mirza Odabaşı , the proceeds of which went to the needy in Kobane . She was also involved in his 2015 documentary Leiden-creates , in which other well-known artists such as Chefket , Marteria and Eko Fresh are represented. In the music broadcast home sound of Bavarian television April 2015 she performed with the songs Paradise and Vay on.

As blaqtea , she has been part of the Gaddafi Gals trio since 2016 .
