Echepolos (son of Anchises)
Echepolos ( ancient Greek Ἐχέπωλος ) from Sikyon is in Greek mythology, according to Homer, the son of the Sicyonian Anchises .
According to the scholiast of the so-called Townley Homer , who refers to Akusilaos of Argos , his father was the grandson of Cleonymus . However, according to Pherecytes of Athens, he was the son of Pelops , so that Echepolus would have been his descendant. In order not to have to take part in the Trojan War on the part of the Greeks , Echepolos, who was described as particularly rich, gave Agamemnon the mare Aithe. According to later tradition, it came from the wonder horse Areion abs, which was once given to Adrastus by Herakles in order to save himself from the battle after the defeat of the Seven against Thebes .
