Eckart "Ecky" Kahlhofer (born April 24, 1936 in Berlin ) is a German songwriter and book author.

Life

Eckart Kahlhofer started playing the banjo in Düsseldorf's old town while still at school . There and later also with the Düsseldorf Feetwarmers , Kahlhofer jazzed among others with Klaus Doldinger , the band leader at the time. Before Kahlhofer made a name for himself as a soloist, he made music for ten years, moving between Paris and Zurich, Vienna and Sylt, until he became a member of the Hamburg folk-rock band Die City Preachers in 1968, with Inga Rumpf and Udo Lindenberg, among others toured. In 1968 his debut album Pretty Strange Songs was released. In 1971 he recorded the album Come Back - Back to the City with the City Preachers .

Kahlhofer's songs are characterized by subtle humor. He also became known for his panpipe-like whistled pieces. Kahlhofer also worked for the children's radio of the North German Radio . He recorded most of his nursery rhymes live for Sesame Street .

On October 1, 1970, Kahlhofer played for his friend Bernd Cordua, known as Uncle Pö , at the opening of his trendy bar in Hamburg, Onkel Pös Carnegie Hall. He created the name Karnickelhalle , which survived the restaurant.

In 1971, Kahlhofer played one of his few film roles in Siegfried Lenz's German lesson under Peter Beauvais. In 1972, Kahlhofer whistled at Loriot's cartoon . In 1973, with his album Abjestrappst, the broken songs of Eckart Kahlhofer , Kahlhofer conquered the scene. Another live album followed in 1974: Poet of Meaningful Nonsense . In November 1985, Kahlhofer played in the Hamburg Hansa Theater. In 1986 he started another comeback attempt with a new program and the accompanying double album On the third autumn at a quarter o'clock, which flopped. In the 1980s, Kahlhofer recorded an LP with the American singer Gail Osowski and the lead guitarist Prinzo Weiss, of which the song North Dakota in particular was played on US radio stations.

Eckart Kahlhofer is married to Kaida, lives in Hamburg and has been working as a book author since 1988. With The Atlantis Codex and the English version of it, The Atlantis Codex , Kahlhofer represents his thesis of the real historical existence of Atlantis in northwestern Europe.
