Ecliptica is a metal band from Austria that was founded in 2005 by the guitarist and songwriter Markus Winkler. The musical spectrum ranges from power metal to hard rock and most of the songs are arranged as a duet between singer Tom Tieber and singer Sandra Urbanek. The band describes their style as "Metal 'n' Roll".
history
Ecliptica was created as a studio project of the former Drunken Angels guitarist Markus Winkler, under whose name he released the concept album The Legend of King Artus (2004). In 2005, Winkler decided to turn the studio project into a real band. When Tom Tieber and Evelin Pieler, who had already worked on The Legend of King Artus , were found for vocals, and Bernie Scholz (guitar, vocals), Florian Thür (bass) and Roman Klomfar (drums) as band members, Ecliptica began to end To perform live in 2006. In 2007 the EP The Awakening was released and the band emerged as the winner of the Wacken Metal Battle Band contest, which enabled them to play at the Wacken Open Air 2007 in front of 80,000 people.
In 2008 Ecliptica released their first studio album Impetus on Frontiers Records and then played numerous appearances, including supporting In Extremo , Symphony X , Freedom Call , At Vance and Axxis . The next few years were marked by several line-up changes and Van Alen (guitar), Sandra Urbanek (vocals), Roman Daucher (drums) and Alexander Basstard (bass) joined the band. In January 2012 the second studio album Journey Saturnine was released . In the same year bassist Alexander left the band and in early 2013 was replaced by Petra "Grooves" Schuhmayer.
On January 15, 2016, the third studio album Ecliptified was released, which was produced together with Frank Pitters ( Dignity , Silverline Music ).
style
The band's style ranges from classic power metal to melodic metal to hard rock and glam rock . As the lowest common denominator of their musical influences, the band names Queen , Metallica , Iron Maiden , Skid Row , Guns N 'Roses and the music of the 1980s in general. While the songs on the EP The Awakening (2007) and the first album Impetus (2008) are still comparable to melodic metal bands such as Sonata Arctica , Stratovarius and Edguy , more hard rock influences can be discerned on Journey Saturnine (2012) . The studio album Ecliptified , released in early 2016, tends towards hard rock and even contains pop elements. Ecliptica call their style of music "Metal 'n' Roll".
