Eda Krisová (born July 18, 1940 in Prague ) is a Czech journalist and writer.

Life

After graduating from high school, Eda Krisová studied journalism and folklore at Prague University . During these years she was deeply influenced by Jan Patočka , both through his personality and his philosophy. She then worked for the magazines Mladý svět (Young World) and Literární noviny (literary newspaper ) until 1968 . In 1969 she accepted the position of reporter for Listy magazine . At the end of 1969, Krisová worked as an assistant at the Institute for Theory and History of Communications at Charles University. In 1972 her works were banned and she was employed in the university's archives, but also fired there in 1976.

After the Velvet Revolution she appointed President Václav Havel to his advisory board. After 1992 she devoted herself only to literary work.

Eda Krisová taught at George Washington University in Washington, DC and lectured at other universities in the USA and Germany.
