Petr Pithart
Petr Pithart (born January 2, 1941 in Kladno ) is a Czech politician and lawyer.
Pithart left the Communist Party after the Prague Spring . He was a signatory of Charter 77 and after the political change co-founder of the Občanské fórum . From February 6, 1990 to July 2, 1992 he was Prime Minister of the Czech Republic (at the time part of Czechoslovakia ).
From the first election in 1996 to 2012 he was a member of the Senate of the Czech Parliament. From December 18, 1996 to December 16, 1998 and again from December 19, 2000 to December 15, 2004 he was Senate Chairman. In 2003 Pithart ran for the office of president. Politically, Pithart is at home in the Christian Democratic KDU-ČSL . Since 1994 he has worked at the Faculty of Law at Charles University in Prague .
