Eddie Butts

Eddie Butts is an American percussionist and band leader.

Butts began singing and playing drums at the age of six. He began his professional musical career at the age of thirteen. He played in various bands in Florida and formed his first band, The New Breed , in 1966 . He also performed with Duane Allman from the Allman Brothers and Robert Popwell from the Jazz Crusaders .

His Eddie Butts Band opened with Chaka Khan , Peabo Bryson , Phyllis Hyman , Buddy Hackett , Jackie Mason , Spyro Gyra , Santana , Tom Jones , the Brian Setzer Orchestra , Tower of Power and Jeff Lorber . He regularly took part in the Summerfest in Milwaukee, the world's largest music festival. He has also appeared at many fundraising events for the Milwaukee Cancer Ball , the Wisconsin Olympic Ice Rink Foundation , the Diabetes Association , the Milwaukee Museum , the Milwaukee Ballet and Milwaukee Symphony, and at commercial promotional events.

He has won several Wisconsin Area Music Awards , including Best Rhythm 'n' Blues Musician, Best Pop Musician, Best Blues Musician, and Best Percussionist. His album Let's Go Back was released in 1995.
