Edward William "Eddie" Nolan (born August 5, 1988 in Waterford ) is an Irish football player . The versatile defender comes from the Blackburn Rovers junior academy .
Career
2006 Nolan came from the youth team of the Blackburn Rovers in the first team. There he did not play in the league, but made his UEFA Cup debut on December 13 in the game against AS Nancy-Lorraine . In 2007, it was awarded to Stockport County for a month . After his return to the Rovers, the club loaned him to Hartlepool United in winter 2007 , where he came to a total of eleven missions.
Already in October 2008, Preston North End was followed by the next loan club, which gave him a new contract with a term of 3½ years after three months at the turn of the year. As a two-footed left-back with a good overview of the game, he quickly became one of the crowd's favorites with 24 competitive appearances in the 2008/09 season, but after the departure of coach Alan Irvine his prospects deteriorated visibly. He followed Irvine to Sheffield Wednesday in January 2010 and completed 14 league games mostly as a right-back in the current 2009/10 season on loan. Since the sporting prospects remained bleak in Preston, he used the next loan contract in July 2010 and went to league rivals Scunthorpe United . After the loan deal ended, Nolan moved to Scunthorpe on a firm contract basis in January 2011 .
National team
Nolan was a multiple Irish U-21 selection player and also came on 29 May 2009 under Giovanni Trapattoni against Nigeria (1: 1) for his debut in the senior team .
