Life

The son of the Texan songwriter Billy Joe Shaver learned to play the guitar very early . Dickey Betts , guitarist for the Allman Brothers Band , gave the boy his first guitar. Even as a teenager, Eddy accompanied his father on studio recordings, which caused a sensation. So it happened that Eddy Shaver became a sought-after studio musician at a very young age and worked for genre greats such as Willie Nelson , Guy Clark , Waylon Jennings , Kris Kristofferson and finally also for Dwight Yoakam .

Eddy Shaver later founded the duo Shaver with his father , which recorded several critically acclaimed records between 1993 and 1999.

At the end of 2000 Eddy Shaver received an advance payment for the production of his first solo album. But he spent part of the money on heroin - and died of an overdose on New Year's Eve in 2000. Eddy Shaver was 38 years old.

Trivia
