Edgar Forster

Edgar Forster (born November 5, 1944 in Passau ) is a German entrepreneur , author and politician .

Life

Edgar Forster - son of the classical philologist Alexander Forster and his wife Irmgard Forster born. Hormuth - married the future dentist Hedwig Maria Theresia Szilard († 2007) in 1976.

education

After primary school in Passau, he attended secondary school in Dachau from 1955 to 1964 , where he passed his Abitur . This was followed by studying economics at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and political science at the Munich School of Politics . In 1970 he graduated with a degree in economics, elective political science. He then worked as a research assistant at the Economics Institute, Seminar for Insurance Science at the LMU. In 1975 he received his doctorate as Dr. rer. pol with the dissertation “Models of the appropriation of profits and wealth creation in the hands of employees”. In 1977 he switched to the University of Cologne , Research Institute for Social Policy.

Entrepreneurial activity

In 1981 he left the university to work as a business consultant in Munich. He got to know the young Turk Bülent Tulay and in 1987 he founded a temporary employment agency in Munich, the "EURA Industriemontagen GmbH", which was followed a year later by "EURA Personalservice GmbH" in Nuremberg. The companies grew, branches were set up mainly in the new federal states, 2003 was the year when "EURA Personalservices GmbH" was founded and in 2005 the friends Forster and Tulay founded "EURAWIS AG" with other partners as a holding company for other temporary employment agencies. Dr. Forster became chairman of the board.

Volunteering

Forster joined the Catholic Youth, first New Germany, then the Catholic Youth Community and in 1965 the Kolping Society . He was a group leader, parish youth leader, city youth leader of the BDKJ in Dachau, district young Kolping leader and diocesan young Kolping leader and thus a member of the leadership group of the BDKJ in the archdiocese of Munich and Freising. He was on the parish council and member of the district council and diocesan council of Catholics. He is still a Kolping member today.

His cultural work was based on literary work and publications on Dachau history, when Dachau, in memory of the Dachau concentration camp , nobody wanted to hear about it. In his city tour "Luja und Prost" Forster describes 400 years of Dachau city history, the interaction of local politics, church and economic policy.

In 1965 Edgar Forster joined the SPD . He became chairman of the Jusos in Dachau and was elected to the Dachau city council in 1972 despite great opposition in the party. There he contributed his economic expertise as a spokesman for the works committee.

In 1984 he stood as a candidate for the office of Lord Mayor of Dachau against the incumbent Lorenz Reitmeier . He got 35% of the vote without the support of his party. After a year of work as a group chairman, he was at the request of member of parliament Hans Hartl from the SPD ruled out . As an independent city council, he founded the Free Voters Dachau in 1989, for which he was re-elected to the city council in 1990.

In 2002 he merged the non-partisan citizens' community of Dachau and the FDP into a list. He has been chairman of the parliamentary group ever since.

From 1999, Forster was a member of the board of directors of the Free Voters in Munich, whose chairmanship he took over in the emergency after 2002. Today he is still deputy chairman. He was active on the district board of the FW from 2003 to 2006. In 2003 he ran for the Free Voters in Munich for the state parliament.

From 2014 to 2020 Forster was deputy district administrator and member of the district council and environmental committee of the district of Dachau.

Publications

Even as a student, Edgar Forster wrote for local newspapers in Dachau for various clubs. He was a frequent author in "Idea and Act", the leading magazine of the Kolping Society. As a research assistant, he wrote economic books and numerous articles in scientific journals. His subjects were distribution and growth policy, social policy and insurance issues. The inner character of his writings was the Catholic social teaching. After his time at university, he wrote popular science books on setting up businesses and associations.

In the nineties he moved to new literary realms: Dachau economic history, beer fun and poetry, family history of the Forsters.

Edgar Forster has been researching the history of Dachau for several years. From November 2004 to 2012 he organized the Dachau city and pub tour “ Luja and Prost”. The tour visited Dachau restaurants and cellars. The basis for the tour is the book of the same name “Luja und Prost”, which deals with the history of Dachau inns and at the same time tells stories about Dachau's “economic history”. An essential part of the tour are true stories about Justus Josef Erhorn , called Biwi.
