Edin Pepic , formerly Edin Sancaktar , (born July 13, 1991 in Ratingen ) is a German soccer goalkeeper who is currently without a club. He was under contract with Wuppertaler SV until December 2019 .

Career

Edin Pepic played in goal at Borussia Mönchengladbach and KFC Uerdingen 05 in his youth before moving to Fortuna Düsseldorf in 2006 . In the 2010/11 season he was accepted into the squad of the second team and made his debut in the Regionalliga West on May 14, 2011 in a 1-1 draw against 1. FC Kaiserslautern II . This was his only use this season. In the following season, Sancaktar was used more frequently. He made a total of eleven league appearances, but only managed to play twice without conceding a goal.

For the 2012/13 season he moved to the third division Borussia Dortmund II , where he signed a one-year contract with an option for another year. There he replaced Johannes Focher who had migrated to SK Sturm Graz . On February 3, 2013, he made his debut in the black and yellow jersey in a 3: 3 game against 1. FC Saarbrücken . For the 2013/14 season he moved to FC 08 Homburg in the Regionalliga Südwest . After 29 league appearances for Homburg, he moved to Goslarer SC for the 2014/15 season .

From the 2015/16 season he was under contract with the regional division SG Wattenscheid 09 . After SG Wattenscheid had had financial problems for several years, the situation worsened and the club finally had to file for bankruptcy in August 2019. Pepic then moved to Wuppertaler SV after 111 league games in summer 2019 . However, the contract was terminated in December 2019 after ten league appearances.

Name change

Pepic was born with the name Edin Sancaktar, but the family was previously called Pepic. However, his family was forced to change their last name after leaving their homeland, Yugoslavia. In January 2019, Pepic was able to take his original family name again.
