Edison is a magazine that deals with electric mobility . In addition to the quarterly magazine, there is also a digital news portal and the “Edison Talk” event series. The magazine belonged to the Handelsblatt Media Group until it was taken over by the editor-in-chief Franz Rother on October 1, 2019 as part of a management buyout .

Edison developed from the supplement "e-vision", which appeared for Die Zeit , Handelsblatt , Der Tagesspiegel , VDI nachrichten and Wirtschaftswoche on the occasion of the introduction of the state purchase bonus for electric cars in June 2016. In allusion to the inventor Thomas Alva Edison , the name was changed to Edison, the signature of the inventor serves as the signature.

The first printed edition was published on September 8, 2017, and the digital presence began at the same time. The print run of the first edition was 80,000 copies. Several discussion events were then organized, for example with the actor Peter Lohmeyer at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt am Main .
