Edison James
Edison Chenfil James (born October 18, 1943 in Marigot ) is a politician and was Prime Minister of Dominica .
biography
After completing school, he worked as a civilian in Dominica and the UK and worked for the Caribbean Development Bank. He later served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dominica Banana Marketing Corporation from 1983 to 1990 .
James, a founding member of the United Workers Party (UWP), was the opposition leader in the House of Assembly , Dominica's parliament , from 1990 to 1995 . After the victory of the UWP in the general election, he became Prime Minister of Dominica on June 14, 1995 as the successor to Mary Eugenia Charles . He held this office until the defeat by the Dominica Labor Party under Rosie Douglas in the elections on January 31, 2000.
