Edit Kovács (born June 9, 1954 in Veszprém ) is a former Hungarian foil fencer .

successes

Edit Kovács became world champion with the team in Lausanne in 1987 and also won three silver and two bronze medals with her between 1979 and 1985. She took part in three Olympic Games : At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal , she won the bronze with the Hungarian team, which included Kovács, Ildikó Bóbis , Magda Maros , Ildikó Ujlakiné-Rejtő and Ildikó Schwarczenberger . Four years later in Moscow she repeated this success with Gertrúd Stefanek , Zsuzsanna Szőcs , Ildikó Schwarczenberger and Magda Maros. At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 , she reached the semi-finals unbeaten with the Hungarian team, in which they lost to Italy 3: 9. The team then won the battle for third place against the Soviet Union 9-2, so that Kovács received another bronze medal together with Katalin Tuschák , Zsuzsanna Jánosi , Gertrúd Stefanek and Zsuzsanna Szőcs. She finished the individual competition in 16th place.
