Gertrúd Stefanek (born July 5, 1959 in Ózd ) is a former Hungarian foil fencer .

successes

Gertrúd Stefanek became world champion with the team in Lausanne in 1987 . Between 1979 and 1985 she also won three silver medals and two bronze medals at world championships. In 1982 she became vice European champion in Mödling , and with the team she secured the title in Vienna in 1991 . Stefanek took part in three Olympic Games : in 1980 in Moscow she finished third with Zsuzsanna Szőcs , Edit Kovács , Ildikó Schwarczenberger and Magda Maros and 26th in the individual. At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 , she reached the semi-finals unbeaten with the Hungarian team, in which they lost to Italy 3: 9. The team then won the battle for third place against the Soviet Union 9-2, so Stefanek again received the bronze medal together with Katalin Tuschák , Edit Kovács, Zsuzsanna Szőcs and Zsuzsanna Jánosi . In the individual, she was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Sabine Bau and came in sixth. At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona she finished 17th in the singles and seventh in the team competition.
