Edith Weingart

Edith Weingart (born March 15, 1922 ) is a former German politician ( SED ) and women's functionary. She was a member of the Central Committee (ZK) of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED).

Life

Weingart, a commercial clerk by profession, joined the SED in 1948 and was active as a functionary of the Democratic Women's Federation of Germany (DFD): Among other things, she was a training manager at the DFD state school in Thuringia and head of the training department in the DFD district executive board in Erfurt . Later she was a full-time SED functionary, including party secretary in the VEB Thüringer Bekleidungswerk Erfurt and secretary for agitation and propaganda in the SED city leadership in Erfurt. From 1962 to January 1984 she was the first secretary of the SED district leadership in Arnstadt (successor to Richard Gothe ). At the SED district delegate conference on January 14, 1984, she was replaced by Wolfgang Pforte . From 1967 to 1976 she was a candidate, then until 1986 a member of the Central Committee of the SED.
