Richard Gothe

Richard Gothe (born December 21, 1928 in Nordhausen ; † January 17, 1985 ) was a German SED functionary. From 1962 to 1985 he was chairman of the Erfurt district council .

Life

Gothe, son of a tobacco merchant and a baker's assistant, attended elementary , middle and high school. In 1944/45 he was a naval helper. Gothe graduated from high school in 1947 and then learned the profession of electrician from 1948 to 1950 at the “Glück auf” potash plant in Sondershausen . In 1949 he joined the SED. From 1952 he worked as an instructor or department head in the FDJ district leadership in Sondershausen and as a lecturer in the state cabinet of the FDJ state administration Thuringia . From 1954 he worked as an operational instructor for the department of governing bodies of the parties and mass organizations and as deputy head of the organization cadre department of the SED district leadership in Erfurt. From 1960 to 1962 he was first secretary of the SED district leadership in Arnstadt (successor: Edith Weingart ). From 1962 to 1985 he was the successor to Willy Gebhardt, Chairman of the Erfurt District Council (successor: Arthur Swatek ). In 1970 he completed a distance learning course at the party college "Karl Marx" as a graduate social scientist.

From 1962 to 1985 he was also a member of the Erfurt district assembly and a member of the secretariat of the SED district leadership in Erfurt. From 1981 he was the successor candidate of the People's Chamber .

Awards and honors

  • Gothe received the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze in 1970 and in silver in 1974.
  • After his death, the POS 23 in Erfurt bore his name.
  • In Nordhausen, today's Conrad-Fromann-Strasse was called Richard-Gothe-Strasse from 1988 to 1990 .
