Edith von Voigtländer
Edith von Voigtländer (born June 8, 1892 in Weimar ; † July 4, 1978 in Riemerling ) was a German violinist. She particularly stood out as an interpreter of the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Ludwig van Beethoven , Johannes Brahms , Max Bruch and Hans Pfitzner .
Career
Voigtländer made her first appearance at the age of eight. From the age of eleven she received violin training from Professor Issay Barmas in Berlin and gave her first concert with the Berlin Philharmonic when she was 13 . Concert tours through 17 European countries followed.
In 1946 she took on a teaching position at the State University of Music in Munich , where she was appointed professor.
