Edmund Steiner (artist)

Edmund Ulrich Steiner , also briefly Edmund Steiner (* 1858 in Sonneberg , † after 1905) was a German doll - designers who closely connected with the German and US doll industry, especially in New York City . As an artist he worked for numerous doll companies and is one of the few creators of dolls from the 19th and the first decades of the 20th century identified by first and last name.

Life

From around 1875 to 1920 Edmund Ulrich Steiner designed dolls for companies such as Louis Wolf & Co. , Saturday & Hilder Brothers and Strobel & Wilken Co.

Among the utility models for dolls initiated by Steiner was the Liliput , introduced around 1894 , whose trademark he did not register until 1902.

The initials of Edmund Ulrich Steiner as EU St. in a rhombus could be proven on a doll from around 1900.

He had a mannequin protected by the Majestic brand . The doll manufacturer Armand Marseille , for example, carried out this design, as demonstrated by the Majestic A 8/0 M Made in Germany brand .

In 1903 Steiner had the Daisy brand registered in the German Empire , two years later by Saturday & Hilder Co. in the USA .
