Edmund Wächter (born March 15, 1954 in Munich ) is a German flautist , author, editor and lecturer at the University of Munich .

Wächter initially learned to play the saxophone by himself . From 1976 to 1982 he studied flute at the University of Music and Theater in Munich . He also attended master classes with Peter-Lukas Graf and Aurèle Nicolet .

Together with his wife, the flautist Elisabeth Weinzierl , Edmund Wächter forms the "Munich Flute Duo". The ensemble has made a name for itself through numerous concerts and courses in many European countries and the USA as well as through recordings for various radio stations and CDs. Numerous compositions by Peter Kiesewetter, Roland Leistner-Mayer , Dieter Acker , Nikolaus Brass, Robert Delanoff and Lukas Matousek are intended for the duo and were premiered by them. Recordings have been published by MusiContact , Ambitus , Melisma , Oehms classics , Cavalli , Aulos and Audite .

As an author and editor of flute literature, Edmund Wächter works for renowned publishers such as Ricordi , Bärenreiter , Schott , Zimmermann , Ries & Erler and Amadeus . His teaching works, which have also been translated into several languages ​​("To play the flute", "Learn to play the flute", "Learn to play the flute in a group", "Flute workshop") are widely used.

Edmund Wächter has been teaching the flute at the chair for music education at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich since 1987. Edmund Wächter is a board member of the Association of Munich Tonkünstler.
