Edoardo Ricci

Edoardo Ricci (born April 27, 1928 in Pignona di Sesta Godano , La Spezia Province , Italy , † November 28, 2008 in La Spezia ) was Roman Catholic Bishop of San Miniato .

Life

After studying Catholic theology and philosophy, Edoardo Ricci was ordained a priest on October 8, 1950 . He then studied art in Pisa and church history at the Pontifical Gregorian University .

Pope John Paul II appointed him bishop of the diocese of San Miniato in 1987. He was ordained bishop on June 7, 1987, by the Archbishop of Florence, Silvano Cardinal Piovanelli ; Co- consecrators were Siro Silvestri , Bishop of La Spezia, Sarzana e Brugnato, and Giuseppe Bonfigioli , Archbishop of Cagliari.

He hosted the Diocesan Synod from 1996 to 1999, the first after the Second Vatican Council . Since 1997 he has been involved in the extensive restoration of the Cathedral of San Miniato "Santissima Maria Assunta e Genesio".

His age-related resignation was granted by John Paul II in 2004. He died from complications from multiple strokes that he had suffered since 2006.
