Giuseppe Bonfigioli

Giuseppe Bonfigioli (born November 9, 1910 in San Carlo di Sant'Agostino , † October 18, 1992 in Cagliari ) was an Italian Roman Catholic clergyman and archbishop of Syracuse , later of Cagliari .

Life

After finishing school, Bonfigioli entered a seminary . After studying theology, he was ordained a priest on February 4, 1934 . As a priest, Bonfigioli worked for a long time in pastoral care and as a lecturer at various seminars.

On March 29, 1961, Pope John XXIII called him . to the bishop of Nicotera and Tropea ; on May 21 of that year gave him there Bishop Giuseppe Stella , the episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were Giovanni Battista Pardini , Bishop of Jesi , and Siro Silvestri , Bishop of Foligno .

On November 9, 1963, Pope Paul VI appointed him . as Coadjutor Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Syracuse and Titular Archbishop of Darnis ; on March 6, 1968 Bonfigioli became Archbishop of Syracuse.

On April 17, 1973 Bonfigioli was appointed Archbishop of Cagliari. Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation on February 11, 1984.
