Eduard Bacher
Eduard Bacher (born March 7, 1846 in Postelberg , Bohemia , † January 16, 1908 in Vienna ) was an Austrian journalist.
Life
Eduard Bacher, who came from a Jewish family, attended grammar school in Komotau and, after graduating from high school, studied law in Prague (where he also worked for Corps Austria , but later left) and in Vienna. After a brief activity as a lawyer in Vienna, he became a stenographer in the Austrian Reichsrat and parliamentary journalist. In 1872 he switched to the Viennese daily Neue Freie Presse as a employed journalist , where in 1879 he became editor-in-chief and a little later also publisher and co-owner. Bacher was friends with Theodor Herzl .
He rests in the old Israelite section of the Vienna Central Cemetery .
