Eduard Jacobson

Eduard Jacobson (born November 10, 1833 in Groß Strehlitz , Upper Silesia , † January 29, 1897 in Berlin ) was a German folk playwright . His antics were among the most played pieces in Berlin in the second half of the 19th century.

Life

Jacobson, son of a rabbi, attended grammar school in Oels from 1846 to 1850 and then to grammar school in Ostrowo until 1854 . From 1854 to 1858 he studied medicine at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Berlin , where he received his doctorate in early 1859. med.

The Schwank Faust und Gretchen , written as early as 1856 during his student days, was a success with the public, whereupon Jacobson switched to the production of mostly one-act singing spears after his studies. Most of his pieces (partly written in collaboration with other authors such as OF Berg , Otto Girndt , Gustav von Moser , Julius Rosen and Rudolf Kneisel ) belonged to the repertoire of theaters all over Germany. He also wrote some pieces for Sophie König .

His posse 500,000 devils saw over 300 performances in a row in Berlin.
