Rudolf Kneisel

Rudolf Kneisel (born May 8, 1832 in Königsberg (Prussia) , † September 17, 1899 in Pankow ) was a German actor and playwright.

Life

As the son of the actors Wilhelm and Mathilde Kneisel, who were members of Heinrich Eduard Bethmann's traveling theater , Rudolf Kneisel came into contact with acting at an early age. In 1845 he made his first appearances in Magdeburg . After engagements in Dresden , Altona and Flensburg , he worked as a director and dramaturge at the Magdeburg City Theater from 1857. From 1859 Kneisel was a member of the Dresden Volks- und Familienbühne . In 1861 he became director of a traveling theater and toured the provinces of Hanover and Saxony until 1886 . He spent the last years of his life in Pankow near Berlin under poor conditions, although the Berlin comedian Franz Guthery organized a - poorly - collection for him as a member of the large "Berliner Presse" association. Until his death he wrote over 50 pieces.
