history

Matthias Korfhage ran a watchmaking shop in Buer from 1810. The company built mechanical grandfather clocks . Eduard Korfhage (1825–1906) took over his father's company "Eduard Korfhage.Buer." And in 1855 created the company's first tower clock. It was the tower clock with weekly manual winding in the Martinikirche in Buer . The clock had a striking mechanism and heavy stone weights. The tower clocks of the community houses Getmold and Schröttinghausen, built in 1863, are still in use today. After the death of Eduard Korfhage, his sons Fritz, Wilhelm and Heinrich continued to run the company.

Heinrich Korfhage developed the "constant force" around 1880 to improve accuracy. At the world exhibition in Amsterdam in 1883 , the company received a gold medal for the quality of its movement. In 1893 the company created the first clock with an electric motor lift at Olomouc Town Hall . In 1935 the production of electrical tower clock systems began.

In 1935 the production of carillon began, which was controlled by a perforated belt. Models were also offered that could be played on a piano keyboard. A well-known example was the pied piper carillon in the town hall of Hameln . With this technology, the company was at the forefront of carillon production worldwide. After the Second World War, the company benefited from reconstruction and the economic miracle . From the electromechanical tower clock movement of the type UT 6000, which had been built since 1959, around 1500 pieces were sold by 1971. In 1973 the company built the carillon in Celle .

Today the company is run as a family business in the sixth generation.
