Eduard Petiška
Eduard Petiška (born May 14, 1924 in Prague , † June 6, 1987 in Mariánské Lázně ) was a Czech writer and translator.
Life
In 1943, after graduating from high school in Brandýs nad Labem , Petiška studied comparative science, literary history and German at the Philosophical Faculty of the Charles University in Prague . In 1949 he received his doctorate and shortly thereafter devoted himself full-time to literature. In 1977 he was one of the signatories of the Anticharta . He died a recognized and successful author who left his literary legacy to his son, a writer who publishes under the pseudonym Eduard Martin .
Works
Petiška specialized early on in children's books, a way of avoiding the problems writers had with the communist regime. He mainly translated works by Goethe from German . As a poet, he was based on František Halas . His narratives and stories have a slight lyrical impact and mostly deal with generation problems. In addition, he published collections of fairy tales and sagas.
