Eduard Soering

Eduard Soering (born March 24, 1903 ; † November 30, 1987 ) was a German business manager and music promoter.

Life

Soering was on the board of BAT -Cigarettenfabriken GmbH in Hamburg from 1949 to 1969 . After retiring from professional life, he was a promoter and stimulator of the next generation of musicians.

Eduard Söring was an enthusiastic violist and co-founder of the Foundation for the Promotion of the Hamburg State Opera, which supports young musicians in their further artistic development with the Eduard Söring Prize.

He was also on the board of the German Music Council and the German Foundation for Music Life .

The Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben annually awards the Eduard Soering Prize for outstanding achievements in the field of strings in memory of its honorary member.

The concert hall of the Stormarn School in Ahrensburg was also named after Söring: Eduard-Söring-Saal.
