Eduardo "Eddie" Pedroza (born July 30, 1974 in Panama ) is a jockey in horse racing who mainly rides in Germany .

Education and success in Panama

Pedroza was trained as a jockey in his mother country Panama. It was there that his sporting career began with 99 victories.

On the mediation of his uncle, who lived in Hamburg, who had offered him to get to know Germany and also established contact with Andreas Wöhler , he came to Germany in 1995. His first victory was on November 5, 1995 with Celestial Knight in Bremen . In the following year he became one of Andreas Wöhler's stable jockeys and, after frequent successes in 2003, became the first stable jockey there.

Pedroza was able to achieve his first victory in a group race on May 12, 2002 in Düsseldorf at the 82nd German 1000 Guineas . He developed into one of the best riders in Germany, which was reflected in four consecutive jockey championships from 2007 to 2010. In 2011 he narrowly missed victory in the German Derby on Earl of Tinsdals against his stable mate Jozef Bojko at Waldpark , on July 7, 2019 he won this race with Laccario . He has celebrated over 1000 victories so far, more than 20 of them in group races.
