Ludwig Edward Fraenkel

Ludwig Edward Fraenkel , called Edward, often quoted as LE Fraenkel, (* May 28, 1927 in Kiel ; † April 27, 2019 ) was a German-born British mathematician who dealt with analysis .

Fraenkel, the son of Eduard Fraenkel , studied at Cambridge University ( Queens' College ). From 1964 to 1968 he was a lecturer and fellow there. He was a professor at the University of Sussex in Brighton and most recently professor at the University of Bath .

In 1989 he received the Senior Whitehead Prize . He was a Fellow of the Royal Society (1993).
