Edward Fuglø (* 1965 in Klaksvík , Faroe Islands ) is a Faroese painter, graphic artist, set designer and postage stamp artist.

Life

The family name Fuglø comes from the island of Fugloy and is the Danish spelling. Edward Fuglø studied at the Danish School of Art, Crafts and Design in Copenhagen from 1987 to 1991. He designed the sets for various theater and film productions in the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Denmark.

For the first Faroese feature film Bye Bye Bluebird , he designed the costumes and the scenography . The costumes were nominated for the Robert Prisen (Danish Film Prize) in 2000.

Fuglø is also known as a book illustrator in the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Denmark and the Netherlands . In addition, he is one of the current stamp artists at Postverk Føroya .

Another side of him is painting. His style is neorealistic with mythical overtones in which he philosophizes about existence.

In 2007 Fuglø made his debut as an author with the Faroese children's book Apollonia , which tells of an old seamstress at the theater who suddenly sees herself on stage, secretly disguised as Shakespeare's Ophelia ( Hamlet ). Just three weeks after its publication, it was nominated for the 2008 Children's Literature Prize of the West Nordic Council .
