Edward Georg (e) Dannreuther (born November 4, 1844 in Strasbourg , † February 12, 1905 in Hastings ) was an English pianist and music teacher of German origin.

Dannreuther was a student with Ignaz Moscheles , Moritz Hauptmann and Ernst Friedrich Richter at the Leipzig Conservatory from 1859 to 1863 . In 1863 he moved to England, gave piano lessons and made the concerts of Liszt , Tchaikovsky and Grieg known there as a pianist . From 1895 he taught as a professor of piano at the Royal Academy of Music . Dannreuthers students included William Hurlstone and Hubert Parry .

A staunch Wagnerian , he founded the London Wagner Society in 1872 and conducted its concerts until 1874. Dannreuther translated Wagner's writings into English and was active as an author himself, for example as the author of the two-volume ornamentation theory Musical Ornamentation (London, 1893–1895).
