Edward Ives

Edward Ashley Ives (born January 3, 1961 in Mount Kisco ) is a former rower from the United States , who was second in the 1984 Olympics in the four-man team .

Athletic career

At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Thomas Kiefer , Gregory Springer , Michael Bach , Edward Ives and helmsman John Stillings crossed the finish line second behind the British and second behind the New Zealanders in the rebound. In the final, the British won with a one-and-a-half second lead over the Americans, who for their part were over three seconds ahead of the third-placed New Zealanders. At the 1985 World Championships in Hazewinkel , Henry Mathiessen , Jonathan Kissick , Ives, Springer and Stillings took fifth place. At the 1986 World Championships in Nottingham , Ives was eighth , with Jonathan Kissick, John Smith , Thomas Kiefer, David Krmpotich , John Terwilliger , Edward Ives, Kevin Still , Andrew Sudduth and helmsman Mark Zembsch the bronze medal behind the Australians and the Soviets Fought for rowers. In 1986 Ives won the regatta at the Goodwill Games with eighth. In 1987 he won the Pan American Games with eighth . In 1988 he took Kurt Bausback in the coxless pair at the 1988 Olympics in part in Seoul. After a third place in the preliminary run and in the hope run, the two finished fifth in the semifinals. With a third place in the B final, Ives and Bausback achieved ninth place in the overall standings.

Edward Ives, 1.98 m tall, rowed at the University of Washington , where he graduated in 1983 in history and international management. After his career, he stayed in Seattle and worked in the real estate business.
