Friedrich von Mondel
Friedrich Mondel , from 1869 Freiherr von Mondel , (born September 22, 1821 at Pichlarn Castle , † December 18, 1886 in Baden near Vienna ) was an Austrian general .
Life
Mondel was the son of the Imperial and Royal Captain Josef Mondel, who acquired Pichlarn Castle in 1814 through marriage and sold it to the Count's House of Sprinzenstein in 1822 . Friedrich Mondel came to Infantry Regiment No. 62 as a cadet on October 31, 1835 and was transferred as such to Infantry Regiment No. 33 on June 16, 1837. After further training in Graz , he was promoted to Lieutenant II. Class in Infantry Regiment No. 53 on October 1, 1839 and to Lieutenant I. Class in Dragoon Regiment No. 1 on March 18, 1843. On February 20, 1844, he was appointed First lieutenant in the 21st Infantry Regiment, on May 30th 1848 promotion to lieutenant captain and on March 30th 1849 to captain 1st class . He was seriously wounded during the campaign in Italy in 1848/1849 . Nevertheless, he stayed in the military.
Mondel was appointed Major in Infantry Regiment No. 43 on June 1, 1858, and on July 26, 1858, Wing Adjutant of Emperor Franz Joseph I , with the war of 1859 in Italy on the side of the Emperor. On July 13, 1859, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel in Infantry Regiment No. 35, although he still remained a wing adjutant to the emperor. On December 27, 1859 he was used as the commander of the newly established infantry regiment "Count Crenneville" No. 75 and on August 15, 1860 was promoted to colonel . On May 5, 1866, he was appointed brigadier in the Northern Army. During this time he had major successes in his career, after which he was appointed major general and brigadier on November 9, 1867, and on October 31, 1872, commander of the 36th Infantry Division.
Mondel was November 1, 1873 Field Marshal Lieutenant transported and finally on April 8, 1874 Adjutant General of the emperor appointed . As a result, on July 5, 1874, he received the appointment of the kk real secret council . On December 11, 1878, he became the owner of Infantry Regiment No. 21 and, as the culmination of his career, was promoted to Feldzeugmeister on October 28, 1881 .
In June 1886 Mondel was already seriously ill. The Kaiser asked the personal physician Hermann Widerhofer to report on the health of his adjutant general. In 1887, 179 specimens were taken from his estate to decorate the imperial hunting lodge in Mürzsteg .
