Edward Kersting (born January 26, 1932 - † October 16, 2017 ) was a German entrepreneur and lobbyist .

Life

Edward Kersting, stepson of the entrepreneur Hans Hövener, studied electrical engineering and worked for the Duisburg copper smelter . In 1965 he succeeded Hans Everken as managing partner of the Olsberger Hütte (Olsberg Hermann Everken GmbH) founded in 1577 . In 2000 he handed the company over to his son Ralf Kersting. He himself was chairman of the family company's advisory board from 2002 to 2012.

Kersting massively expanded the business activities of the Olsberger Hütte during his 35-year tenure. He initiated the development and production of electric storage heaters and strengthened the company through acquisitions of Warsteiner Eisenwerke AG, the Junker bell foundry in Brilon , the Jotul-Esch company, the Rathenow furnace and stove factory and the Königshütte foundry and furnace construction in the Upper Harz region . In 1998 he took over the majority of the Hungarian Fireplace Kft.

He was involved in numerous honorary posts, including as Vice President of the Arnsberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hellweg-Sauerland and for over three decades as Chairman of the Association of Southeastern Westphalia (1972–2001). He was a board member of the Association of the Metal and Electrical Industry in North Rhine-Westphalia , the state association of employers' associations in North Rhine-Westphalia and the Industrial Association of House, Heating and Kitchen Technology (HKI) in Frankfurt am Main .

From 1969 to 1975 he was a member of the first city ​​council of the newly founded city of Bigge-Olsberg . He was a long-time member of the district council .

Kersting was committed to the foundation "Briloner Eisenberg und Arbeiter - Stadtmuseum Brilon", which was established in 1996 and which runs the Hövener House and the Hövener House Museum .

Edward Kersting was involved in numerous social projects in the Holy Land . He was a member of the German Association of the Holy Land . In 1977 he was appointed Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Maximilien Cardinal de Fürstenberg and invested in Berlin on May 14, 1977 by Bishop Franz Hengsbach , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy .
