Edward Rigby
Edward Rigby (born February 5, 1879 in Kent , † April 5, 1951 in London ) was an English character actor .
Early life
Rigby was the second son of Dr. William Harriot Coke (1851-1922) and his wife Mary Elizabeth (1850-1929) from Liverpool . He was educated at Haileybury and Imperial Service College and Wye Agricultural College . Under his real name Edward Coke, he served in the Artists' Rifles and Royal Field Artillery during World War I and was awarded the Military Cross for being particularly valiant. In 1912 he married Phyllis Muriel Austin, a novelist. Their son, Cyril Edward Rigby Coke (1914-1993), was a director. He was married to Muriel Young (1923-2001), a presenter.
Stage and film career
Rigby had its stage premiere in 1900 at the Grand Theater in Fulham . He later toured Australia, the United States and Canada. In 1910 he made his first film, the silent film The Blue Bird . 150 films followed between 1933 and 1951.
death
He collapsed on a street in Richmond , London and was rushed to Richmond Hospital, where his death was determined. He was cremated on April 11, 1951 in Mortlake's crematorium.
