Edward Smouha

Edward Smouha ( Edward Ralph "Teddy" Smouha ; born December 17, 1909 in Chorlton-cum-Hardy , Manchester , † April 1, 1992 in Geneva , Switzerland ) was a British sprinter .

At the Olympic Games in 1928 , he won the 4 x 100 meter relay with the British team, in the cast Cyril Gill , Smouha, Walter Rangeley and Jack London , the bronze medals behind the relay from the United States and Germany .

Edward Smouha studied at the University of Cambridge and in 1930 as a barrister admitted. His father, Joseph Smouha, was a Jewish businessman who came from Iraq . Edward Smouha was Wing Commander in the Royal Air Force during World War II . In the 1970s he was awarded the Order of the British Empire .
