Edwin Balmer

Edwin Balmer (* 26. July 1883 in Chicago , † 21st March 1959 ) was an American science fiction - writers .

Life

Edwin Balmer was born to Helen Clark (Pratt) and Thomas Balmer. He began his career as a reporter for the Chicago Tribune in 1903 before starting story writing. From 1927 to 1949 he was editor of the SciFi magazine Redbook , in which later a. a. also novels by Kate Wilhelm were published.

In 1932/33 Balmer wrote the novel When Worlds Collide with Philip Wylie . The plot was made into a film by George Pal . The follow-up novel is called After Worlds Collide .
