Edwin P. Fischer (* 1873 in New York City ; † November 1947 there ) was an American tennis player in the late 19th century.
biography
Fischer won the mixed doubles at the US Championships four times: in 1894, 1895 and 1896 he won alongside Juliette Atkinson , and in 1898 against Carrie Neely . The mixed competitions were held at the Philadelphia Cricket Club .
The best result of his individual player career reached Fischer in 1896, when he advanced to the semifinals and there was defeated by Bill Larned . A year later he lost again to Larned in the quarterfinals. In 1896 he won the Tuxedo tournament in New York against Malcolm Chace . The American also reached the final of the Canadian Championships three times in 1896, 1897 and 1906.
His highest national individual ranking was fifth in 1896, and for the next five years he stayed in the top ten of his country.
