Eduard "Edy" Havlicek (born February 20, 1912 in Vienna , Austria-Hungary , † unknown) was an Austrian football player and coach. His younger brother was the goalkeeper and coach Viktor Havlicek , other brothers Gottfried Havlicek , also a professional footballer, and heavyweight - a professional boxer Hans Havlicek .

Career

Viktor (not Eduard) Havlicek was in goal at First Vienna FC and came to Germany in 1938 for Karlsruher FC Phönix , where he stayed until 1946, interrupted by a time as a guest player at Kickers Offenbach , for which he played three seasons before he did 1942 returned to Karlsruhe. There he played after the end of World War II and played 13 games for the club in the Oberliga Süd .

In contrast, it is known from Edward's playing career that "the former Viennese professional player (...) who also worked for a long time in France" was eligible to play for PSV Chemnitz in January 1938 . In France he was under contract with US Longwy . Before that, the striker should have played for Rapid Vienna from 1935 , although it seems to have been confused with Rudolf or possibly Gottfried .

After the kicker almanac had already led him as an honorary "trainer" for gymnastics and lawn games in Bonn for the 1941/42 season , Havlicek worked as a football coach after the Second World War. After almost two seasons with Borussia Dortmund in the Oberliga West , in which he advanced to the final of the German championship in 1949 and lost to the underdog VfR Mannheim , three years with STV Horst-Emscher followed . In 1953 he was the successor of Kuno Krügel at the Stuttgarter Kickers in the Oberliga Süd . But after just one season, they parted ways again and Havlicek took over as coach of the Luxembourg national team in 1955 , but at the beginning of the season he moved again, this time to Borussia Neunkirchen , where he worked as a coach until 1957. This was followed by further positions as coaches with FC Singen 04 , CS Le Stade Dudelange in Luxembourg, TuS Eving-Lindenhorst and Union Ohligs .

He himself signed “Eddy” Havlicek on postcards.

family
