The Estonian Independence Party ( Estonian Eesti Iseseisvuspartei - EIP ) is a right-wing extremist party in Estonia .

history

The Estonian Independence Party was founded in Otepää in August 1993 as the "Party of Estonia of the Future" ( Tuleviku Eesti Erakond - TEE ). The TEE officially existed from 1993 to 1999. Since 1999 the party has had its current name.

Program

The Estonian Independence Party represents the extreme right wing in Estonia. The main topic is the refusal of Estonia to join the European Union . The party was against the introduction of the euro in Estonia.

A strong Estonian nationalism is at the center of their program . The EIP wants to secure the Estonian "national preservation". She advocates a more self-sufficient role for Estonia in the world economy. The party calls for the nationalization of important industries and the reintroduction of the death penalty.

Participation in elections

The Estonian Independence Party was unsuccessful in elections. While the party won 2.57% of the vote in 1995, it did not run in the 1999 parliamentary elections. In the elections to the Estonian Parliament ( Riigikogu ) in 2003, she received a total of 0.55% of the vote. The party did not take part in the 2004 elections to the European Parliament . In the 2007 general election , 0.2% voted for the party. In the 2011 parliamentary election she received 0.4% of the vote.

As of May 4, 2015, the party said it had 2,095 members.
