Effi Gazi

Fotini "Effi" Gazi ( Greek Έφη (Φωτεινή) Γαζή , * 1966 in Lefkada ) is a Greek historian .

Gazi studied history at the University of Athens and the University of Essex . She received her PhD in 1997 from the European University Institute in Florence with a dissertation on Spyridon Lambros and worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Princeton University . After various positions at the Universities of Thessaly , Athens, Crete , Brown University and Birkbeck College , London , she is now a lecturer in the history and theory of historiography at the Institute for Social and Educational Policy at the University of the Peloponnese . She is a member of the editorial board of the journal Historein .

The main research interests are the intellectual and cultural history of Greece , in particular the history of nationalism and national historiography ( Spyridon Lambros ), the importance of the three hierarchs Basileios von Kaisareia , Gregory von Nazianz and John Chrysostomos for the formation of the Greek-Christian culture and the connection of Fatherland , Religion and Family in Greece in the 19th and 20th Centuries.
