The University of Thessaly ( Greek Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλίας ) is a state university in Thessaly ( Greece ) with locations in Larisa , Volos , Karditsa and Trikala . The university is a member of the network of Balkan universities . The main campus is in Volos.

The university was founded in 1984 and was then divided into five faculties. Today there are seven faculties; the current rector of the university is Professor Konstantinos Bagiatis.

The logo depicts the Centaur Cheiron , who came from the mountains of Pilio .
